Druid's Available!!!!!!

Okay, at least online he is -- at websites for Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Borders! Took me totally by surprise. I was just plugging along on various new projects I've been considering when friend told me her pre-ordered copy of The Druid Made me Do It was being shipped. Huh? Wha--? What happened to July 29 release . . . you mean it's out there? Like . . . now instead of eleven days from now? so suddenly I'm naked in public, or at least that's how it feels at first.

Now that I've had a chance to recover from the surprise, I'm just jazzed that I finally get to share the adventure. I love this story. Kane's so larger than life for me and he had such a long way to go as a character, from remotely penitent with potential, to downright heroic and fully redeemed. He manages it, but I have to admit I had no idea how he was going to do it until the very end. Shoot, I changed the ending a month before deadline because all of a sudden I realized the villain was someone other than who I originally thought it would be . . .

As a writer, I often feel like I'm simply relating my characters' stories rather than creating the stories for them. It's as though the stories already exist; I just have to recognize them as they reveal themselves to me. Maybe that makes me a little nuts, but it's a fun kind of nuts.
